Forest Bridge School caters for 122 pupils up until 16 years of age (currently) with a primary diagnosis of autism. The new specialist facility will provide a supportive environment for sixth form students, instead of mainstream colleges.
Site compounds are located off school grounds, hoardings shield pupils from activity, and high-impact works such as piling have been scheduled outside term time. These measures ensure safeguarding standards are maintained and disruption is kept to a minimum.
The new sixth form block will extend Forest Bridge School’s provision, offering young people with autism a supportive and inclusive environment to continue their education. The project also responds to the growing demand for SEN school places in the Royal Borough, providing much-needed capacity in line with forecast increases in EHCPs.
SPS installed 34 No. 250mm diameter driven bearing piles. Depths ranged from 12.5m to 17.3m. Several piles were driven to refusal and the total installed linear pile depth was approximately 495.5 metres across the project.
Working loads ranged between 161kN and 703kN, with horizontal loads generally between 15kN and 30kN
Reinforcement typically comprised: 4H12 bars (various cage lengths between 13m–18m), and 6H12 bars for higher load locations.
